Well, I always loved the kookiness of this song. And when I finally realized it was written for Bowie's son, Zowie, every lyric made perfect and wonderful sense.
Note that the song is in 12/8 time.

its a weird song isnt it? sounds a lot like bob dylan, bob dylan at not his best, but its naive and funny, helpless and full of easy emotions. a sundaymorning-song. compare it to heroes and try to figure out bowies state of mind. but maybe anyone who likes heroes and kooks should try to figure out his state of mind. or try to find someone who can figure it out.
